This piece is part of my new series “Santos and Crucifix” based on my painting trip to Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico in June. I visited churches, museums, and mountains, drawing inspiration from it all and making plenty of plein air pieces to use as studio reference.

This piece puts a Mary I found in the Martinez Hacienda into the Cabot Plaza where @everywheretaos is located. I bought some perfume there and when I wear it I am reminded of my trip, the crisp start of summer, and driving down sagebrush lined roads in my truck.
