This piece is part of my new Series “Santos and Crucifix” based on my painting trip to Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico in June. I visited churches, museums, and mountains, drawing inspiration from it all and making plenty of plein air pieces to use as studio reference.

This piece takes a Santo that my friend Randy had in his shop Rio Bravo in Santa Fe and puts him in a bedroom in the Taos Marinez Hacienda.
Randy has the most amazing collection of blankets, hats, and did I mention turquoise jewelry? He has everything else you could want in that shop too. One of the highlights of my trip was hanging out with him and dusting 100 year old Cowboy spurs. Hope you’re doing good Randy, and hope to see you soon!
